Psychotherapy is generally considered to be a long-term process for treating mental health or conditional issues. During psychotherapy, you learn about your moods, feelings, thoughts and behaviors (MayoClinic). Receiving any type of psychotherapy often involves a qualified therapist to diagnose, process, creation of a treatment plan and implementation of response(s)/coping skills to challenge possible difficult situations.
As there are many types of psychotherapy, each has its own approach and should be considered different from ANY type of life coaching. Simply, therapy focuses on mental health as well as emotional healing (blog.zencare.co). I, Alyx Allen, am only able to provide psychotherapy in the state of Nevada. I also am unable to be both therapist and life coach. Based on consultation, I will help you identify your needs. If therapy appears to be primary, I assist you by connecting you with resources and/or referring you to a psychotherapist in your area.
There are many types of coaching programs, but here, at The Selfish Contract we focus on empowering you to set goals, identify strength and reconnect with your purpose. This can be long term or short term, as well as periodic. With a coach you will be able to focus on personal/professional goals, overcome possible obstacles and identify your possible self-sabotaging behaviors, etc. In all, you will figure out ways to become more of yourself and reach your identified personal goals.
Coaching does not include or require any type of treatment plan or diagnosis unlike therapy. If any type of identifiable treatment and/or diagnosis of any kind is a primary focus; you will be referred to a mental health professional in your area to avoid dual relationship. The Selfish Contract is created specifically for coaching and is unable to be both coach and therapist.

I totally understand life happens. Your time is reserved for you & you only. So, if you are in need of canceling a session, I just ask for communication at least 24 hours in advance.
Sessions are hosted via Zoom or in person based on location. They run about 50-60 minutes but sometimes go about 10 minutes over if we’ve hit a good flow. Frequency of sessions average about once a week.
No refund policy. If you decide to invest in yourself, I want to uphold that promise you’ve made to yourself. “I don’t fear commitment, I fear wasting my time.”
Whenever you’re ready & you book your sessions! I give you freedom in blocking the perfect time for you, but also instilling accountability in honoring the time you’ve allotted.
